Wrinkle Reduction
Wrinkle reduction with chemodenervation uses small, targeted injections of a botulinum toxin product to temporarily relax specific facial muscles. As those muscles soften, dynamic lines such as frown lines, forehead lines, and lines at the corners of the eyes can appear less pronounced.
How chemodenervation works
Many facial wrinkles form over time from repeated muscle movement during expressions like frowning, squinting, or raising the brows. A botulinum toxin product works by briefly limiting the nerve signals that tell those muscles to contract. With reduced movement in the treated area, the overlying skin tends to crease less. The effect is temporary, and treatment is focused on selected muscles rather than the whole face.
What to expect
Treatment usually begins with a conversation about the lines you would like to address and a review of your health history. The injections themselves are brief, and most people return to everyday activities the same day. Visible changes typically develop gradually over a number of days rather than immediately, and results fade over time, so the appearance of treated lines returns as muscle activity resumes. Your clinician can discuss timing, aftercare, and how repeat sessions are generally spaced.
Who it may suit
This approach is often considered by adults interested in softening dynamic expression lines. It may not be appropriate for everyone, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding or with certain medical conditions. An in-person evaluation is the best way to understand whether it is a reasonable option for you and to set realistic expectations.
