Aching legs, swelling, heaviness, and visible veins are common, and they often have a treatable cause beneath the surface. At Charming Skin, our work centers on vein care first, with cosmetic skin services as a secondary offering. This page explains how we approach vein problems step by step, so you know what to expect before you ever sit in our chair.
It Starts With Listening and Looking
Every plan begins with your story. We ask about the symptoms you notice most, when they bother you, and how they affect your day. From there, we use ultrasound vein diagnosis to see how blood is actually moving in your legs. This matters because the veins you can see on the surface are not always the source of the problem. Mapping the underlying circulation lets us understand the cause rather than treat only the appearance.
Care at Charming Skin is led by Dr. Abboud, who brings more than 20 years of experience to this work. Dr. Abboud is a graduate of the University of Damascus and completed residency training at Cook County Hospital and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in Chicago. You can learn more about Dr. Abboud and how that experience shapes the care you receive.
Matching the Treatment to the Vein
There is no single answer that fits every leg, so we match the approach to what the ultrasound shows and what is troubling you. Depending on your situation, that may include:
- Varicose vein treatment for the larger, rope-like veins that cause aching and heaviness
- Spider vein treatment for the smaller surface clusters
- Endovenous laser (EVLA) and other minimally invasive options to close problem veins from the inside
- Compression therapy, which is sometimes a helpful first step or a useful companion to other treatment
We walk you through which options apply to you and why, so the plan makes sense and you can ask questions along the way.
Comfort, Recovery, and Honest Expectations
Modern vein treatment is far less involved than many people expect. The methods we use are designed to be performed in the office, with most patients returning to their normal routine soon after. We will be straightforward about what each treatment can and cannot do, how many visits may be involved, and what your legs may feel like during recovery. Our goal is to help your legs feel and function better, not to oversell a result.
Insurance and Getting Started
Many people are surprised to learn that vein treatment is often a medical matter, not just a cosmetic one. Most PPO plans and Medicare cover treatment for symptomatic veins. Cosmetic vein work, such as treating veins that are not causing symptoms, is self-pay. We are glad to talk through your coverage so there are no surprises.
